Dearly Beloved
by Jessi Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten
Directed by: Jim Himelrick
September 25 – October 17, 2009
The Futrelle sisters, Frankie, Honey Raye and Twink, are throwing a wedding. Frankie has almost made herself sick with elaborate preparations for her daughter Tina Jo's antebellum-inspired wedding, and the rumor mill in their small town of Fayro, Texas is working overtime. No surprise there–the Futrelle sisters have never been strangers to gossip. After all, they did survive the scandalous breakup of their almost-famous gospel singing trio, The Sermonettes. But Twink's desperate attempts to get her boyfriend of fifteen-and-one-half years down the aisle, Frankie's ongoing conversations with their dead mother, and Honey Raye's tendency to race to the altar at every opportunity have kept tongues wagging for years. Come watch as the mayhem ensues. Brought to you by the playwrights of Dearly Departed.

Christopher R.C. Bosen (Dub Dubberly) plays a redneck with a heart of smoked meat who is happy to be surrounded by such wildly talented and funny castmates in his first Towne Centre Theatre production. Prior to moving to Brentwood in 2006, Chris appeared on stage with the Arkansas Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and ComedySportz Los Angeles. After training with The Groundlings and Second City (Los Angeles), Chris co-created the award-winning improvisational comedy short film Beaux and D'aria (still playing on a computer screen near you at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRf3GsSdzL4). Favorite roles include McMurphy in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Orgon in Tartuffe, Pa Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, and John Proctor in The Crucible. Thanks to Terry for making a return to the stage possible -- I love you. Cameron and Sydney -- you make me smile every day; and as your first mention in daddy's bio, always remember that if you follow your passion your dreams will become reality.
Deanna Bowden (Frankie Futrelle Dubberly) For Deanna, life in Fayro just seemed like home. Originally from Cleveland (TN), she found her lifelong love while performing in Tobacco Road in college. It was just too, too romantic. They have two beautiful and highly intelligent children. Deanna begins every day by lifting the spirits and the other "parts" of her class participants as a fitness instructor at the Y. She is very pleased to be making her Brentwood "daybew" in this refined and elegant production. She's friendly, too. Say "hi" to her.
Bob Buchholz (Wiley Hicks) is excited about playing his first bad-boy-love-interest role. You know the kind of guy – the one that your mother always warned you about. That's Wiley, well...sort of. It's definitely a departure from his recent run of "men in blue" roles that included among others, Officer Welch in Rumors and Lieutenant Rooney in Arsenic and Old Lace here at Towne Centre. He's also been known to take liberties with the tax code as Jon in Love, Sex and the IRS, but his biggest stretch to date as an actor probably was as Felix in The Odd Couple (neatness is definitely not one of his strong suits). He's happy to be back at TCT and working with such a talented cast and crew.
Marianne Clark (Geneva Musgrave) is a familiar face to the theatre community. She is an award-winning actress, director and producer. Over a period of fifty years, she has over a hundred shows to her credit as an actress and director. She has served on many theatre boards and is currently serving on the Towne Centre Theatre's Board of Directors. She most recently performed in Steel Magnolias, The Foreigner, Arsenic and Old Lace, and Nunsense. When not on stage playing a role as wife, mother, and grandmother, she is off stage enjoying her family as wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Clark turned seventy years old this year and is still going strong. She will be directing I Remember Mama in TCP’s 2010 season. Y'all come!!! Mrs. Clark wants to thank her family for their support and love, and would like to dedicate this performance to her friends at the COTAW. You know who you are.
Laurie Evans (Patsy Price) is participating in her second Towne Centre Theatre production. She and her daughter, Olivia, were in the cast of Annie Get Your Gun last summer (Dolly). Laurie's credits include Regional Theatre (Thank You, Papa and Pennsylvania, U.S.A.), Television (Hee Haw, NBC Homemade Comedy Special, Dick Van Dyke Comedy Hour with Ruth Buzzi, Link to a New Life with Carol Lawrence, Minnie Pearl), Back-up Singer (with twin sister) for Bill Anderson and Stella Parton, Grand Ole Opry, Children's CD projects (Wonder Workshop, Broadman/Holman, Time/Warner), Opryland and concert tours. Laurie is excited to perform in Dearly Beloved with such an incredible cast. She loves "being a Mom" and working as the Activities Program Coordinator at Belmont Village of Green Hills and Music Director at Epworth United Methodist Church.
Annaliese Higgins (Tina Jo/Gina Jo Futrelle) has recently moved to the Franklin area and is elated to have had this opportunity to work with TCT! It has been a privilege and a delight! She has been involved with a plethora of venues and experiences in the realm of theatre. Her backstage work has been anything from Stage Managing to being the box office manager; some of those shows being Antigone, Shadowlands, and You Can't Take it with You. Some of her favorite roles on stage have been: Patricia Fodor in Crazy For You, Old Anna in And Go to Innisfree and Elsa Von Grossenknueten in The Musical Comedy of Murders of 1940. Her favorite job was when she was the Performing Arts Production Assistant for the Theatre, Band, and Choir Departments for a high school in Colorado Springs. In her humble opinion, kids, education, and the performing arts is a magical combination. Her passion does not stop at theatre, but also delves into travel, the mission field, reading, and spending time with family and friends, and she most especially loves being an aunt. Her mission in life: to live life to the fullest and laugh her way through it.
Paula Higgins (Nelda Lightfoot) is a recent transplant from Colorado. She comes to us with a passion for theatre but her experience as an adult actress has primarily been in church productions. Paula has been a teacher of music, theatre and language arts, was founder and director of a large Youth Performing Arts Choir in CO, ran a wedding cake business and is a published writer. Mother of four adult children (yeah...Annaliese is one of those four), and a grammy of two adorable granddaughters. She hopes to land some larger acting roles in the future with Towne Centre Theatre, but is truly delighted at the warm reception that she has received with this cast and crew. "Thanks to everyone here, including our fantastic audiences, my dear, patient husband, and of course to the Lord who gave me theatre and administrative gifts to begin with! You've all made Tennessee so very welcoming!"
Kristen Hill (Honey Rae Futrelle) made her debut as Claire in Towne Center Theatre's production of Rumors and Maria in Lend Me a Tenor. A native New Yorker, Kristin has appeared in many shows with both professional and community theatre. In 1987 she auditioned with hundreds of other hopeful students in NYC and became one of only 32 students chosen to attend the New York State School of the Arts. There she studied theatre under the Tony-award-winning Circle Repertory Company. In 1992 she joined the Cider Mill Playhouse in New York working under directors of Binghamton University's MFA program. Kristin juggled her love of theater with her love of singing and in 1997 moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music. She landed a record deal with Atlantic Records and later Warner Brothers. She completed an album, radio tour and her single "Let's Burn It Down" was released to radio in 2001. Even after surviving the ups and downs of the music business, she continues to write and sing and now has her husband Shayne (guitarist for Sawyer Brown) to share love and music with. Kristin gives all glory and honor to Jesus from whom ALL blessings flow!
Karen Himelrick (Twink Futrelle) is excited to return to the TCT stage and be directed by her hubby for the first time! She was last seen at TCT as crazy Mrs. Fezziwig in Mrs. Bob Cratchit's Wild Christmas Binge. Her favorite roles include Sister Amnesia (Nunsense) and Aldonza/Dulcinea (Man Of La Mancha). In addition to acting onstage at TCT, Karen directs music, directs shows, and produces. She is a voice teacher and lives in Brentwood. She loves the theatre!!! However, her favorite roles are wife, daughter, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother!
Alan Johnson (a.k.a. Chad Taylor) (John Curtis Buntner) is a 12-year native of Nashville after nearly two decades of acting for film and television in Los Angeles. Alan has served as an instructor for film, TV, and commercial workshops at the John Cassablancas Modeling and Acting School, a producer and director for stage performances at his church and the Spring Hill Arts Center (The Best Christmas Pageant Ever), and stage performer. Some acting favorites: Oklahoma (Andrew Carnes), Camelot (Lancelot), Tom Jones (Tom Jones). This is Alan's first acting gig at TCT and he is loving it! I want to thank God first of all for giving me the talent/gifts. I also want to thank my dear sweet wife of 33 years (Judy) for loving, caring, sacrificing, and encouraging me to get back on the boards using my talents. Oh, the Chad Taylor thing, that is my professional name.
Johnny Peppers (Justin Waverly) is walkin' in tall cotton to be back on the TCT stage for the seventh time. You may have seen Johnny in the 2009 season opener Funny Money. Other recent acting credits include shows at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre (Seeing Stars in Dixie, The Second Time Around, Breaking Legs, Lost Claus, Sarah and the Secret of the Cellar), Pull-Tight Theatre (Hello, Dolly!), Bethlehem Players (Father of the Bride, The Music Man), and Towne Centre Theatre (The Pajama Game, Here’s Love, Lend Me a Tenor, Annie Get Your Gun, Mrs. Bob Cratchit’s Wild Christmas Binge). In addition to acting, Johnny is a proud member of the Board of Directors for Towne Centre Players and the Brentwood Arts Society. Now, go ahead on and enjoy the show! I'll swan, you'll be taken to laughin' so hard you'll be plum wore out!
